Lecture 1: Module Briefing/ Research

On our first week of class, we were briefed on this module. We also had a short lecture about this subject. We had to do a a proposal for our research.
Lecture 2: Problem Statement/ Research Question/ Research Objectives
09.04.19 | Week 2
This week, we were told on how to write a problem statement, research objectives and question for out topics.
Lecture 3: Developing Your Research Question
17.04.19 | Week 3
We learned on how to develop a research question in our proposal. It would be beneficial if it relates to our specialisation or area of study.
INSTRUCTIONS
Proposal (Week 1–Week 4)
Week 1 | 03.04.19
We need to decide our area of interest, establishing an area on where we want to do a research on. Then, we have to provide a rationale with our research evidence.
Week 2 | 10.04.19
This week, we continued on our proposal and got feedback from Dr. Hayati.
Week 3 | 17.04.19
We continued on our proposal. Then, we had a library section on how to search for academic journals.
Week 4 | 24.04.19
We submitted our final of proposal in our google folder.
Lecture 4: What is a Critical Review?

This week we had a lecture about critical review and how to write it.

INSTRUCTIONS
Research : Critical Review (Week 4–Week 7)
01.05.19 | Week 5
I found some article that could help me to get some knowledge about my research. We were also told to download the articles in case we needed to review it offline or the publisher took down the articles.
08.05.19 | Week 6
After receiving feedbacks from the lecturer, I continue on reviewing.
15.05.19 | Week 7
Today is the submission day for the critical review.

Research : Data Collection (Week 7–Week 12)
15.05.19 | Week 7
After critical review, we have to decide on the research method that we are going to do. There are a few types of methods. I choose Questionnaire Survey, Interviews and Focus Group.
22.05.19 | Week 8
This week there was no class, but we were asked to finalised two research method. We make slides about the explanation of our chosen methods.

29.05.19 | Week 9
After choosing the method, we continue on the surveys. I continue on making the survey questions.
05.06.19 | Week 10
I'm done with my survey questions and receives some responses.

I received around 80 responses on my survey. My target is actually around 100. Also, this week I start to analyse the responses. I also make appointments with the interviewees.

After analysing both methods, I compile the data collection into slides.
Research Report & Final Presentation (Week 13 - Week 14)

I compile everything from proposal, critical review and research implementation. I make it as effective as I can, so the audience could understand the research well.

FEEDBACK
PROPOSALS
Dr. Hayati likes the chose title "Enhancing Storytelling through Sound Design". She says, the tile shows that sound isn't the only solution to make animation better. I have to make a change to the sentence in research objective. Research objectives number 3 sounds a little confusing.
CRITICAL REVIEW
Specific feedback: For the critical review Dr. Hayati told me to use "As a researcher" or "As a reviewer" instead of "I" .
RESEARCH IMPLEMENTATION

RESEARCH IMPLEMENTATION
Dr.Hayati told me to do focus group as well, not just interview, and make sure if I want to make voice recordings while interviewing, I have to ask permission first to the interviewee.
For the survey questions, i have to change the movie scene gif into some scenes that is more unpredictable, so I can get various answers where I could actually proof the hypothesis of my research.
FINAL PRESENTATION
Dr. Hayati and Dr. Jinchi told me that I've done a good job. Dr. Jinchi said that she likes that I grouped the survey questions and explain it, it means that I understand the purpose of my questions well. She also said that she sees that I actually understand the whole process of the research. Dr. Hayati and Dr. Jinchi sees that my conclusion and explanation match and connected with my research objectives, they also understand the whole research well, but it will be better if I explain my research without reading the slides too much.
