FINAL PROJECT : STOP MOTION
Week 1
We are brifed on our final project which was a stop motion. I'm in the same group as Crystallyn. The final project was already briefed since the first day of class. Mr. Martin told us to select 3 best stop motion in our opinion and state why.
MUTO a wall-painted animation by BLU
Watching this "ambiguous animation painted on public walls," I soon forget that I'm seeing stitched together images of graffiti and lose myself in the mesmerizing mutation. The movement is also really neat. The audio they used are so appropriate. Also, I really do appreciate the surrealism of the stop motion.
Coldplay - Strawberry Swing
This stop motion is actually a music video. I think that the creativity in this video is amazing. It feels like I am watching and animated video. The ideas for the drawing is really interesting. It is so entertaining. To imagine this shot frame by frame it must have taken them a long time to make. Some scenes feels like it has a camera movement while actually its just the drawing that creates these perspective changes. The stop motion itself is so neat also.
Game Over by PES
The stop motion artist known simply as "PES" is a genius in the field with a stack of YouTube hits. This retro game themed video takes everyday objects and recreates classic titles. The video itself has a classic game feel. The stop motion gave a nostalgic feels of classic games. They also come up with great audio to enhance the video.
WEEK 6
For this week, we were told that we could pair up into two people group for the final project. I paired up with Crystallyn, we should make a one minute stop motion. We discussed what we wanted for our project and we had a few ideas. Here's our ideas :
1. Using real person, a girl and a guy, this is more of a surrealistic story where it is very imaginative. The girl was sad, she cried and her tears made a river where there she floats using an umbrella then falls down from the sky. Then the guy appears and then she is happy,
2. Dino Vs Human. Human was walking, then all of a sudden a dino appears then chase the human, then another human comes to the rescue.

After discussing the ideas with the lecturers, we decided to do the Dino Vs Human, we decided to use figures for our stop motion, and for the backgrounds using cartons.

After getting approval from Mr. Martin and Mr. Razif, we bought the figurines for the stop motion and the background properties. After setting up all the scenes, we booked the studio room and started to do our stop motion shoot.
